Established in October 1906 as the Wellington District Club, the building served the community in this capacity for nearly 50 years. It later became home to the local British Legion branch. In the early 1960s, three local businessmen purchased the property and generously gifted it to the people of Wellington, establishing it as a Community Centre held in trust by Wellington Urban District Council (WUDC).
Following local government reorganization in 1974, the District Council became the holding trustee. Today, the Centre is managed by the Wellington Community Association's dedicated management committee.
Conveniently located in the heart of Wellington, the Wellington Community Centre is within easy walking distance of numerous car parks and bus stops, making it an accessible hub for community activities and events.
